What to expect from online couples counselling?
Online counselling with a qualified therapist will help you to work through the challenges you are facing in your relationship.
Sessions last for 50 minutes and you will work with the same therapist each session in order to build an open and trusting relationship to support your needs.
We offer a talking therapy, which means we will work alongside you to understand what may be going wrong in your relationship and together we will explore how we can get things back on track for you both.
Couples can often find themselves going around in circles revisiting the same arguments over and over again. When you get caught up in these patterns it can be difficult to believe there is a way out.
Working with a specialist couples therapist can help you see things from a new perspective and get off the merry-go-round.
Our aim is to get you talking instead of arguing. We don’t focus on who is ‘right’ and who is ‘wrong’. Instead, we look at how both of you may contribute to your current relationship dynamic.
We will guide you towards new understandings of yourself and your partner so you can gain insights into what triggers you both and what you can do to improve your relationship.
Why choose online couples counselling?
There are many reasons why people turn to online couples counselling. You may have struggled to locate a local therapist who specialises in relationship therapy, you may live in a small town and the possibility bumping into your therapist feels discomforting, you may be an English speaker living abroad and unable to find an English-speaking therapist, or you and your partner may live in different locations so online counselling is your best option.
It also allows you to work around a busy schedule, saving time travelling to/from a therapist’s office and possibly make use of a lunch break. Online therapy may be easier to fit in around shift-work, which can make it difficult to schedule sessions within a local therapist’s working hours.
Some people may find it easier to open up online, in the comfort of your own home, rather than in a therapy room. Online therapy may also save on the expense of a babysitter, making it more cost-effective for you.
Whatever your reason for looking into online relationship therapy, we are here to help.
